Wed, Mar. 15, 2006: Nashville Sessions Update
Mar. 15, 2006
Riely's next CD is "in the works". Last week's Nashville studio sessions resulted in completed vocal and rhythm tracks of all 12 songs for Riely's 2nd album. The Tuesday and Thursday sessions featured Riely singing and playing "live" in the studio with the great Nashville session players, Lance Martin on bass and Butch Simmons on drums. On Wednesday Riely performed two songs that will appear on the album with a more sparse arrangement. That day also provided time for "listening" to Tuesday's work and to add some vocal harmonies to some of the songs. On Thursday Riely's friend and musical partner, Venitia Sekema joined him to add her great voice to four of the songs. On two of the songs Riely and Venitia sang "live" with the rhythm section in the classic duet form.
Overseeing the project was the talented producer/artist, Karen Angela Moore. Studio owner/engineer, Jon Young provided a focused yet comfortable environment in which to record. The recording on all tracks was accomplished just before huge electrical storms swept in on Thursday afternoon.
Sat, Mar. 4, 2006: Riely to Record Second CD in Nashville
Mar. 4, 2006
Riely will enter the studio in Nashville TN on March 7, 8 & 9 to record the vocals and rhythm tracks for his 2nd CD. He has twelve songs ready to go. Riely is again working with talented Nashville producer/artist, Karen Angela Moore. They will be recording at Jon Young's beautiful studio located on the southwest outskirts of Nashville.
For these sessions Karen has scheduled the great rhythm section that Riely worked with on his first album, "Workin' On A Memory": Lance Martin on bass and Butch Simmons on drums and percussion. The March 9 session will feature a special guest appearance by Galien, Michigan singer-songwriter, Venitia Sekema. Venitia and Riely have performed together often over the last 2 years. Venitia will add her great voice to four of Riely's songs for the album. Additional recording sessions will be scheduled for April and the CD should be ready for release this summer.
